Note: My beloved Skip, also known as my RV driver, is the author of this beautiful post.
As I start this message, I am watching the sun rise over the Pusch Ridge formation among the Tucson Santa Catalina Mountain Range, some ninety minutes past sunrise. It feels especially good this morning knowing that tomorrow we will be heading back to a very different view and a March-like climate in Minnesota.
I have learned that the beauty of this place is best observed by hiking up into the foothills and down into the wash-scarred canyons. My past characterization of desert as “moonscape” is now viewed with a tremendous appreciation for the creative hand that formed this part of the world. Mighty fine sculpturing, Jesus!
We have completed our SOWER service at Pusch Ridge Christian Academy (PRCA) and depart with a true sense of gratitude for this place and the work that is being carried out by the teachers, the grounds keeping staff, administration, and the Board. During our first day tour we were introduced to poignant visuals with captions and script conveying the “portrait of a graduate” that PRCA aspires to develop in each student. I was struck by the visuals and text that accompanied the five captions: Virtuous Steward, Servant Leader, Justice Keeper, Courageous Christian and Truth Seeker.

My thoughts first went to my early introduction to character development as a boy literally at the knee of my Scoutmaster/father teaching me the meaning behind the Boy Scout Law and Oath. And then reflecting on these mission statement visuals I thought to myself, this is the school I would want my grandchildren to attend. Still waiting for them to arrive but knowing they will be arriving at a darker time in our history and culture.
It is refreshing and encouraging to know that God has provided a place such as this to grow children toward the abundant life that Christ has in mind for them. These children, their families, and the Pusch Ridge community are so very well served. Thank you PRCA!
Absolutely inspiring and humbling!
Really lovely – thank you, Skip. How in the world did you get that picture? So grateful, as are you, for the Academy. Travel mercies to you both on your journey back.
Wow Skip and Anne – love the post and thank you for sharing the artwork and text today. I love it! Is this artwork and text in a book that can be purchased? The text along with the images create a wonderful sense of the ministry and how folks can find a specific role in it. Wonderfull done!! Blessing and best wishes your way, Gary
