Note: I’m a bit behind in publishing posts as we are staying in a campground with ZERO signal! Initial panic has subsided and we’re enjoying less technology.
Visiting Page, Arizona was an experience of discovering beauty in remote and unexpected plans.
Upon our arrival, we joined the throngs of tourists hiking to Horseshoe Bend. Though Lake Powell is remarkable low, it was still a sight to behold. We marveled at the myriad languages spoken on the trail. The people watching was fabulous. Crazy young male tourists from Japan were taking selfies on the edge of a cliff; Skip and I walked away. We heard no screaming so presume no one fell but it was alarming to say the least.

Day two in Page afforded another “wind day” causing a forced day of rest. We had ambitions to hike on the edge of Grand Escalante National Park but opted to avoid the sting of sand on our legs and faces as 20-40 mph winds gusted through the desert. We did stop for a couple of scenic views to capture pictures of the Glen Dam and the Wahweap Marina. After several hours hold up in the rig to shelter from the wind, we opted to go out for dinner at the Dam Bar and Grill where we split a dam burger and fries. It was damn good.

Saving the best for last, on day three we were privileged to experience the beauty of the Upper Antelope Canyon. Located in Page, this gem is part of the Navaho Nation. Apparently, it was discovered in the 1930’s. Our rather bossy tour guide herded us through and occasionally grabbed people’s iPhones and took pictures. Wearing a mask OUTDOORS for a couple of hours was unpleasant but the views were worth that discomfort. Years of wind, sun and water have carved magnificent contours into this slot canyon. I took more than 100 photos. Here are a few of my favorites. Feast your eyes as you marvel at God’s creativity!

We finished the day with a lovely hike to Hanging Gardens where lust green vines hug the edge of a remote cliff.

Our next post will be about mighty, magnificent Zion National Park. Can’t wait to share that with you when we have more reception!
Just gorgeous! Had JUST heard about the slot canyon from my doctor just a couple of days ago!

The upper antelope canyon is a Master piece.
I had to download it so can keep looking at it
I can’t believe some of those things were only really discovered in the 1930s! That’s wild.
Pictures are wonderful! Zion here you come! Looking forward to it.
