Before leaving Riverbend Retreat, we stepped back in time millions of years. Adjacent to our beautiful RV site, we hiked on the Dinosaur Trail along Rock Creek. We criss-crossed the creek when needed to keep our feet on the rocky, dry flats. With a brilliant blue sky, we savored the morning. After a mile or so, we found the dinosaur tracks that were discovered in the 1960’s. I’ll admit, the actual sighting was a bit underwhelming. We didn’t even take a picture as the tracks were covered in water and a little hard to appreciate. But still… pretty cool. God’s creativity never ceases to amaze us!

We also visited the Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose. Their tracks were much clearer to behold! The tracks are believed to belong to the Acrocanthosaurus, a 7 ton dinosaur standing 15 feet tall.

We spent the whole day in San Antonio yesterday. Can’t wait to share pictures and details in my next post. Hope you’ll come along for the ride! Here’s a sneak peek along the San Antonio River.

Rishi (and I) were pretty impressed by those dino tracks!!!!!
Are they real?? The footprints look chisled into the rock!! Have fun. Safe travels.
They are real! We saw pictures of the team carefully excavating the site.
It’s wonderful see you two on another adventure. We can’t wait to see more.
Be safe and have a lot of fun.
Pat and Lynne
Hi Pat – thank you so much for your well wishes! Keep following along 🙂
Anne and Skip, So fun to see more of your adventures and that you take us along so well, with your poetic prose and wonderful pictures! Almost feel like we are there with you! We traveled to San Antonio many years ago, and found it to be a delightful, fun, and historically interesting and important. Going along the River Walk to eat and sight-see and touring the Alamo was amazing.
Will look forward to more posts from you! Take care and be safe!
Hi Lynne – thank you for your kind words! We loved the River Walk. More details to come on the blog soon!
Fun photos of the dino tracks! They look so good that it is hard to believe they are real…liked your comment related to them that shows they are indeed real.
We were in San Antonio a few years back visiting our oldest son who was doing some training at the Air Force base there. River walk is really fun! When we were there it was soooo hot that Karen even had ice in her water at the restaurant (inside story…she always asks for water with no ice…well now almost always). Love you photos and story and the guy you are with.
Thanks, Doug. I’m rather fond of the guy I’m with!
So glad to join your adventures again! Easter on the road? Lol, my Mom said the tracks look small for such a big dinosaur. You and Skip look great. Retirement and Sowers agrees with you. Safe travels.
Thanks, Karen. Yes, Easter on the road. We’ll be worshipping the Risen Lord near Big Bend. My best to you!
