A riddle: When fellow hikers stop you on the trail and explain they just saw a rattlesnack on the path, do you: a) continue forward, b) turn around and head back to the truck, c) pick up rocks to throw at the snake if encountered or d) put your husband in front of you on the trail and continue forward? Correct answer: c and d.
Yesterday, Skip and I hiked the trail to the Horsetooth Falls near Fort Collins, CO. The panoramic vistas were spectacular and worth the trek, including the nominal risk of encountering a rattlesnake. Skip walked “at point” so any snake might lurch at him first. (I promised to share that in this blog!) Equipped with rocks, we forged ahead; thankfully, no snake crossed our path. Huffing a bit from the altitude, we finally reached the falls which were a mere trickle. A fellow hiker graciously agreed to take our photo on the trail. A photo of Skip shows the once-flowing falls.

Today we enjoyed an afternoon boating on the Horsetooth Reservoir with my brother and my niece and her family. What joy!

Short and sweet. That’s it for now. Tomorrow we head east through Nebraska, then onward to Iowa and home to MN. Thanks for traveling along with us on our journey!
