Our final pin in the map on this journey brought us to the Bowman Orchards near Albany. Traversing through the western and central regions of New York from Lake Erie to Albany was spectacular. We encounter mile upon mile of the Catskills mountains covered in dense upland forests. Scant wisps of autumn colors foretold the foliage’s coming October glory. The vast untamed land was breathtaking. We couldn’t get over how much of New York state has been preserved as pristine, undisturbed forest.

We arrived late afternoon at the Bowman Orchards, our final Harvest Host for the trip. As we were exhausted, we tucked in for the evening.
We awoke on Friday to bright blue skies and a delightful array of orchard sights and smells. We strolled the property, encountering the bounty of God’s creation. This was truly a harvest host. In addition to the fall favorites of apples and pumpkins, we found rows of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and peaches. Goats, sheep and horses rounded out the marvelous experience. Families with toddlers and elementary kids were having a blast. Just watching them was a treat. With a sack of Honeycrisps, some apple butter, and a couple of apple cinnamon donuts in hand, we hit the road for our final day of travel.

Mid Friday, we arrived in Hubbardston, MA, where have joined two other couples as part of a SOWER project team. Mission E4 is our project; our work here will include painting, repairing, cleaning, gardening and organizing. This property is surrounded by dense forest. Driving anywhere requires miles of curving country roads through New England villages. We can’t wait for the colors to turn!
Thank you for following along on our trip across 1,775 through seven states. Our blog will resume in late October as we head to Gettysburg, then through Virginia, Tennessee and Arkansas to arrive in Sherman, Texas. More adventures are sure to come!
Lovely stuff! Sure that’s a peach??? Looks like peach leaves but the fruit looks like an apple! Love, love, love your adventures and that sheep.
Sure looked like a peach!
Such a beautiful journey. The near miss of vehicles was quite a story. So glad you are safe. New England is beautiful. Larry grew up
On the East coast and knows much of the area. Hope the colors are spectacular. Your eyes will be worn out from all the color. Aren’t God’s creations, flora and fauna, wonderful? Miss you but fun to catch up.
We have yet to see much in the way of colors. We are hoping the maples will burst forth with their glorious scarlett-red in the coming week or so. We’ll be at a B&B in central Vermont this coming weekend. I’m hoping to take lots of pictures of fall foliage then.
Glad you have reached your Fall destination safely! Whew! Blessings for you and the work you’re doing!
Thanks, Marcie!
Beautiful 😊
I hope your mission goes well and is a blessing to everyone involved. I have so very much appreciated the blog posts. The writing is exquisite and makes me believe I am right there. Blessing to you and Skip.
Thanks, Sandy. Our first day is off to a great start with a wonderful team of SOWERs. I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed the posts. I have treasured the opportunity to write creatively and to share the joy of our journey.
Your blog has been so great to read- your writing paints pictures and you don’t need a thousand words! It is such fun that you are taking us on the journey with you in such a personal way – know that we are praying for your health and safety and big blessings as you minister to others at each stop , and through Sowers. Thanking God for His Protection from that careening truck!
Thank you so much, dear Lynne!
